1. Identify what has changed — and what has not
Start with the original cargo-ready date and the revised date or realistic date range. State whether that date means production finished, cargo packed and available for loading, or a later release from the factory. Do not substitute a hoped-for vessel departure date for actual cargo readiness. Confirm whether the port, cargo, container requirements, loading address or trade terms have also changed.
2. Check the shipment stage before giving new instructions
An enquiry, a quotation, a submitted booking request and a confirmed booking are different states. Locate the latest reference and confirmation rather than assuming that a previous conversation reserved equipment or space. The actions below are questions to coordinate with the responsible parties; they do not amend a carrier booking.
Use the stage that matches the actual shipment, then obtain specific instructions rather than treating this as a universal carrier rule.
| Shipment stage | What to coordinate | Avoid assuming |
|---|---|---|
| Quote only; no confirmed booking | Update cargo readiness and ask whether the quote remains valid for the revised requirements. | Assuming the first price, equipment or sailing is still available. |
| Booking confirmed; empty container not collected | Ask the booking holder to review the change and provide the accepted revised confirmation and pickup instructions. | Sending a truck against superseded instructions. |
| Empty collected, cargo loaded or transport started | State the container/location and completed work; coordinate any operational change and applicable time or extra-work conditions. | Moving, returning or reloading equipment on an unconfirmed assumption. |
3. Reconfirm each deadline and the origin work
Ask for the latest booking-specific shipping-instruction, VGM and terminal acceptance deadlines, including the relevant time zone. Then align factory loading, empty-container collection, trucking and any warehouse work with the confirmed plan. These are separate tasks: do not calculate all cutoffs by subtracting a fixed number of days from an advertised ETD. If a container has already been collected or loaded, tell the booking contact before arranging another move.
4. Ask which commercial conditions need to be checked again
Send the original quotation reference and ask whether its validity, routing, equipment basis, inclusions and exclusions still fit the new plan. Request a written explanation of any applicable amendment, cancellation, storage or container-time conditions. Do not assume a change is free, or that a charge will apply, without checking the actual product and accepted terms. This guide does not publish a fee schedule or promise that a particular sailing can be retained.
5. Keep one agreed version of the shipment brief
Share the same revised dates with the factory, buyer, origin booking contact and destination agent as appropriate. Identify who is authorized to request changes, who approves revised charges and who approves shipping instructions. An overseas agent should also separate the Tianjin origin tasks from destination responsibilities. Only act on a changed booking after the responsible party confirms the revised arrangements; a change request alone is not that confirmation.

Common questions
Does a new cargo-ready date automatically change my booking?
No. Notify the party controlling the booking and request confirmation of the revised arrangement. Updating a factory plan, sending an email or submitting a website enquiry does not itself amend a carrier booking.
Should I send another website enquiry if I already have a reference?
Include the existing enquiry or booking reference when contacting the team by email or WhatsApp. This website does not provide a customer booking-amendment portal or automatically merge repeat enquiries.
Can I assume the earlier quotation still applies?
Ask for explicit reconfirmation against the revised date, equipment, cargo and scope. Quotation validity and amendment conditions depend on the actual offer and product; this article does not override them.
Need to discuss a revised shipment requirement?
For an existing enquiry or booking, contact the team with that reference and the changed details. For a new Tianjin FCL requirement, the online form saves a successful enquiry and returns a reference; quotation and booking confirmation remain separate.
Discuss a new shipment ↗References and scope
Carrier references describe their own booking and documentation processes; they do not imply our authorization or agency relationship. Requirements vary by product, location and shipment. Confirm the actual conditions with the booking holder. This is an evergreen planning guide, not a live market bulletin or a shipment-specific commitment.
